GG Jackson II Commits to North Carolina
Rising Memphis Grizzlies Forward Chooses Tar Heels
GG Jackson II, one of the most highly touted prospects in the 2023 class, has committed to play basketball for the University of North Carolina.
Jackson, a 6-foot-9, 215-pound forward from Columbia, South Carolina, is ranked as the No. 5 overall prospect in the ESPN 100. He is known for his athleticism, versatility, and scoring ability.
Jackson had a breakout season for the Memphis Grizzlies this past season, averaging 14.4 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. He also led the Grizzlies to their first NBA championship.
Jackson's commitment is a major coup for North Carolina coach Hubert Davis. The Tar Heels are looking to bounce back from a disappointing season in which they finished 22-11 and missed the NCAA Tournament.
With Jackson in the fold, North Carolina should be a contender for a national championship next season. The Tar Heels will also have the services of four-star recruits Seth Trimble and Tyler Nickel, as well as returning starters Armando Bacot and Caleb Love.
Jackson's commitment is a sign that North Carolina is once again becoming a major force in college basketball. The Tar Heels have won six national championships, more than any other school.
Jackson is the latest in a long line of great players to come out of North Carolina. He has the potential to be one of the best players in the country and help the Tar Heels win another national championship.
