Web exploitation competition, also known as resource competition, is a type of competition in which organisms indirectly compete by consuming and reducing a common limiting resource or shared food item. It occurs when two or more species share a dependency on the same resource, and their usage affects the availability of that resource for the other species.

Web exploitation competition can take two main forms:

• Interference competition: Occurs when individuals directly interact and interfere with each other's access to resources, such as through aggressive behavior or territoriality.
